Campus² Tech Talks: a new name, the same inspiring knowledge exchange

Formerly known as the Open Lecture, Campus² Tech Talks is the platform where science, business, and society come together. This edition focuses on the transformation towards the 4th Generation University: an institution that goes beyond teaching and research to become a hub of open innovation. By connecting academia with industry, government, and society, it drives collaboration, accelerates innovation, and helps address today’s global challenges while strengthening Brainport’s unique ecosystem.

16.05 – 16.45 | Lecture by Prof. Maarten Steinbuch & Prof. Marcel Bogers (TU/e)

• Maarten Steinbuch – Distinguished University Professor in Systems and Control and Chair of Control Systems Technology at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). His research ranges from automotive engineering (with a focus on connected cars and clean vehicles) to mechatronics, motion control, and fusion plasma control.
• Marcel Bogers – Full Professor of Open & Collaborative Innovation at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) and a Research Fellow at the University of California, Berkeley. As an innovation management scholar, his research ranges from the microfoundations of open innovation to the dynamics of innovation ecosystems.

Abstract:
In their joint lecture, Prof. Maarten Steinbuch and Prof. Marcel Bogers will explore how the concept of the 4th Generation University is taking shape at Eindhoven University of Technology and across Brainport. They will reflect on the region’s innovation heritage, discuss international perspectives on open and collaborative innovation, and highlight how universities can act as catalysts for ecosystem development. The session will share both local lessons and global insights, and invite the audience to consider how they themselves can play a role in shaping the next phase of innovation ecosystems.
